CROSSING 2007
Crossing reflects on forced migration and crossing borders. Events covered in the twentieth century begin with the Balkan wars of 1912 and move across India, Pakistan, Vietnam, Mexico, Gaza, Kosovo, Germany, China, Rwanda, Russia, Azerbaijan, Albania, Sudan, Iraq, Afghanistan and more. Personal comments of the victims, the time and place of these events are intimately hand stitched on the images.
The documentary images are important only as part of the whole installation. The installation is the imaginary which addresses individual subjectivities.
