LoveYouForever 2001
LoveYouForever consists of two installations, LoveBook and LoveGame, which are distinct yet single aspects of continuity. They work together to question the limits of stigmatizing criminal and victimized personalities in a continuum where the viewer is also the player and partakes in determining destinies.
LoveBook is about domestic violence. 120 cases of crimes committed in Turkey and the USA are hand printed on 54 steel plates. As the work travels to different countries this archive grows with additional cases. The installation space suggests a place of confession and interrogation.
The same material informs LoveGame where Russian roulette is played in a room suggesting an abandoned casino. Mini roulettes decorate the walls, a mix of Turkish and English love songs play in the background.
